Bitaxe: What is a Pool and how to join?
A mining pool lets you combine your miner’s power with others for more frequent rewards, just enter the pool’s server details and your wallet address in your miner settings, restart the device, and you’ll begin mining automatically.
What is a mining pool?
A mining pool is a service where multiple miners combine their computing power to increase the chances of earning rewards. Instead of relying on luck, the pool distributes payouts based on each miner’s contribution.
Why should I join a pool?
Joining a pool gives you:
-
More frequent and predictable payouts
-
Easier setup for beginners
-
Clear visibility into your miner’s performance
For smaller miners, pool mining is the recommended method.
What do I need before joining?
To connect your miner to a pool, you’ll need:
-
Your Bitcoin wallet address
-
The pool’s Stratum URL and port
-
A worker name (optional)
How do I join a pool?
-
Open your miner’s interface by typing its IP address into your browser.
-
Go to the Pool or Mining settings.
-
Enter the pool’s Stratum server, port, wallet address, and optional worker name.
-
Save the settings and restart your miner.
Once restarted, your miner will automatically begin submitting shares.
What should my worker name look like?
Many pools use a simple format:
<wallet_address>.<device_name>
What do I use as the password?
Most pools accept any value (usually just “x”). If the pool needs a specific password, it will be listed in their instructions.
How do I confirm I’m mining?
You can check:
-
Your miner dashboard for accepted shares
-
The pool’s website, where you can search your wallet address to see live stats
Can I change pools later?
Yes. You can update or switch pools at any time in the miner’s settings. Some miners also support a fallback pool for added reliability.
Where will my rewards go?
All earnings are sent directly to the Bitcoin wallet address you entered in your pool configuration.
